Tracking at Soundhouse.
I’m playing my trusty Mustang Bass. On the left you’ll see my Danelectro Baritone, a confounding damned instrument, and Scott’s $100 P-Bass, which after spending a million years trying to intonate, we discovered has a warped headstock, rendering it unintonatable. (The neck looked like a ski jump before I cranked the shit out of the truss rod.)

That Fender Twin will have appeared on no less that four records I’ve played on (three with Key Note Speaker, one with American School of Warsaw). Of note: it’s the same amp that Nirvana’s Bleach was recorded with (along with countless other Endino-engineered records). Grüngy!

Hard at work.

The Sonics - “Don’t Believe In Christmas”

Inexplicably, the reunited Sonics asked my old, decidedly non-garagey band to open for them two Halloweens ago at the Paramount Theatre, which we did. And it was awesome. (They’re playing at the Capitol Theatre in Olympia, WA this New Year’s Eve.)

They have a new record in the can, recorded by the inimitable Jack Endino - who, coincidentally, another of my bands will be recording with in February.

Key Note Speaker & Twink the Wonder Kid join forces for the first time in many, many moons in order to bring the 2Bit Saloon (formerly the Bit, natch) to its knees. The Heels are along for the massacre.
This’ll be a good’n. KNS hasn’t played Ballard since that Tractor show where Scott busted two tuning pegs off his SG while ecstatically rolling about on stage.

Key Note Speaker rides again:

Tomorrow nite! Key Note Speaker makes a rare appearance at the High Dive, along with The Charity Stripe (who’s EP release party this is), and Facts About Funerals. 9 PM, $6.00, 21+

(As you may know, Mark and Cameron of The Charity Stripe did time with me in Kate Tucker & the Sons of Sweden. They were the only ones out of the band who had any actual Swedish heritage. These are our pre-Swedes bands, rocking on once more.)
